Lodge Ropes

Quality Handmade Natural Horsemanship Equipment

Cypress Lodge is our home in the central goldfields of Victoria, Australia, with our kids and our horses and ponys.  We start, train and ride using ‘Natural Horsemanship’ techniques.  We needed good equipment for the job but the brand name ropes were too expensive and some of the cheaper ones were rubbish.  So over the years we have learned to make our own.  Now we only make what we use, if it’s not good enough for our horses we wont make or sell it.

No gimmicks, just good traditional horse gear made from 100% Australian ropes and leather.

Special Offer No2

LodgeRopes Split Rein Rope Hackamore - Custom Made

We used to make these a while back for students wanting to ride in a rope hackamore but didn’t like or feel comfortable with the traditional long mecate rein.  Originally we used our standard split reins with the hackamore but soon realized that if we used a 14Ft mecate, weighted at both ends and fitted with  leather poppers, it provided a set of 7 Ft split reins that could also be used as a training halter & 14 Ft lead rope set.

Two great training/riding items for the price of one.

The Split Rein Hackamore setup consists of 14 Ft x ˝” double braid marine rope tied to a 6mm double braid marine rope riding halter.  This provides a set of 7 FT Western Split Reins.   Attach one end of the mecate to the halter chin loops with a simple sheet bend and you now have a 14 Ft training Lead Rope & halter.

The Pics show both setups.

As this is a LodgeRopes Custom Made item, select your required size from pony, cob, arab, full, draught or custom tied to your measurements.

Price:  AUD$48.00

Colours :Black, Blue, Red, Purple, White/red fleck, Black/purple fleck, Black/blue fleck. As this is a custom made item, feel free to mix and match colours.

Tashanor Park  Natural Horsemanship Education Centre, Kyneton, Victoria.

So much more than just lessons, at Tashanor there is a holistic approach to you and importantly, the physical & psychological fitness of your horse.

Need some help starting out or would like to refine specific aspects of Natural horsemanship? (dont we all)    Consider visiting Bianca & Tamara at Tashanor Park

www.tashanorpark.com

If you are worried this could be a thinly disguised advert for  Tashanor Park, let us reassure you, it is!  And why not, let’s look at this logically,  if you are considering getting into natural horsemanship, the usual option is to buy the gear, books, videos, dvds and a cowboy hat.  Then you stand back and look at the pile of dollars in front of you and wonder why your horse still wont come to you.  Another option is to go to a workshop or clinic and really experience Natural Horsemanship.

Coming Events at Tashanor Park

27 Nov                    Beginners half day workshop

18&19 Dec           2 day Clinic. Liberty, Online & Liberty

15 Jan                      Half day Workshop

UPDATE: Today (13/11) we held up a fence at a Tashanor Park  Workshop.  Despite the rain, wind & soggy arena,  Bianca & Tamara produced a program that has to be the best value for money in the State.  We were amazed at their  ability to communicate with both horse and  rider even under less than favourable conditions.  We also witnessed a sublime demonstration of control without halter or lead rope (liberty) far surpassing any we have seen for elegance and finess.

We came away with the firm opinion that if you are thinking about attending a workshop or clinic on Natural Horsemanship, need help with your techniques or  wish to start riding naturally.....  we unconditionally recommend these two wonderful instructors, and to top it off.......the coffee was great.

Natural Horsemanship - You are Never Alone

Many of the people we meet online are often isolated from other Natural Practitioners.  They work alone from books and videos, never sure if they are progressing or if their horses are really improving from the work.  Self-doubt reaches us all at times.    We try to help and encourage when we can, sometimes mailing photocopies of things that have helped us on our journey.

Remember, you are never alone.  Kindred spirits are only an email away.  Please click on 'Lodge Links' on the menu for some great sites to visit, including Natural Horsemanship equipment suppliers that have informative sites that you may wish to put in favourites for future visits.

If you are stuck, stranded or stuffed, consider this website we found.  www.naturalhalters.com

Click on the link and visit with Beth & Mike, check out the Training Courses.  Beth is with Suite 101 online university.  This site links you with a 2 day Natural Horsemanship interactive course.  It is basically Parelli Level 1 training with many extras...all for only US$29.95.  We pay twice that for a video that only confuses us more.  I checked with Beth and Aussies are more than welcome.

Beth & Mike are Fair Dinkum horse people, so call by their site and check out the pic of Beth cuddling up with John Lyons.  I think it took a week to get that smile off her face.

We like the site, make up your own mind.  If this info helps just one person, it is worthwhile.

Another US site for you to visit: LESS is MORE Natural Horsemanship.  NO WHIPS, NO BITS, NO SPURS.

"When we free ourselves from all the things that encumber us, we can begin to build a relationship based on being partners and not a relationship based on dominance or fear. By getting rid of all the unnecessary tack and mechanical equipment, we develop a natural balance, natural seat and a natural relationship. We no longer use stirrups or the reins to balance ourselves as we ride. We become aware of the horse's physical movements as it flows beneath us and we begin to develop harmony in motion. As we learn to trust and respect our equine partners, they willingly forgive more and more, creating an opportunity for a true bond based on an understanding of, and working with, FEEL – the true language of the horse." - Michael Gonzalez

Michael has lots of info on hackamore riding and his training philosophy & methods are sympathetic to most Natural Styles.

Michaels 12 Training Principles are worth reading and then re reading.
